Also known as “Moss Rose,” portulaca is a low growing plant that produces flowers similar to small roses on unique foliage.  It has a spreading habit.  Good as a ground cover in sunny areas, in pots, or use as a rock garden plant.  Thrives in hot, dry conditions.

Flowering Period:  Mid-June through end of September

Growing Conditions:  Low maintenance, thrives in hot, dry conditions and requires no deadheading.  Also resistant to disease and pest problems.

Height:  Grows 5 inches tall.

Spacing:  Plant 10-12 inches apart. 

Light: Full sun.
